Holme Moss

After a leisurely breakfast of bacon muffin butties - Martin and I set off towards Holme Moss via Brighouse. Brighouse had stepped back in time - to the 1940s.

Only seemed polite to have a quick nosy round and have a look at the Spitfire.

Continuing towards Huddersfield, a young man decided to race Martin and I down into Fartown (yes he was beaten :0)).   Arrived at Holmfirth and started the ascent up the Moss.  It was a steady climb and thankfully on this occasion we didn't get beaten by the weather (on the last attempt up the Moss, Martin and I had to turn back due to the gale force winds trying to take our bikes from beneath us).  Disappointingly there was no ice-cream van at the top of the Moss so there was no need to hang about.

The decent was a little quicker than the ascent and was soon over (but good fun).  Down into Derbyshire taking in the Ladybower reservoir.  Then over into Barnsley and back to Holmfirth via Dunford Bridge.  Stopped off at Holmfirth for a well earned cupa and ice-cream.  Then back home to Happyfax via the Rat and Ratchet.....for re-hydration purposes only!
